Albany Middle School

Albany Middle School, known as AMS, serves grades six through eight for students in Albany, California. The public school combines students graduating from the city's three elementary schools: Cornell, Marin, and Ocean View. The school operates under the Albany Unified School District. Albany Middle School offers band and an arts and drama program and has a very big sports program. Sports offered at the school include Basketball (In 2006 the girls basketball team won the East Bay Regional championship , Cross Country, the championship winning Track and Field team, Wrestling, and Volleyball. The school also has an excellent leadership program that includes school leadership. The test scores in Albany are very good. Coming only second to nearby Piedmont,California.
The school opened in 1999 at its current location of 1259 Brighton Ave. Previously it was at 1000 Jackson St, where Ocean View Elementary School now is.
The school's principal is Robin Davis and vice principal is David Neumann. Its mascot is the cobra.
