[edit] An old coal mining camp
My mother was born in Alexo. At its peak in the late 1920s, it had a population of over 2,000. I plan to visit the Provincial Archives next month when I'm in Edmonton to find more about this old mining town. If I find anything verifiable from a reliable source (such as the provincial government or local newspapers) I'll add it here, but I'm not sanguine - very few of the Alexo miners spoke English (it was almost completely staffed by Ukrainian immigrants such as my grandparents), and the local news media did not cater to the Ukrainian population at that time. --Charlene 06:37, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
