Alun Pugh

Alun Pugh (b. 1955) is the Minister for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport in the Welsh Assembly Government and a Labour Assembly Member for the marginal Clwyd West seat.
Pugh was born into a coal mining family in the Rhondda. Prior to his election in 1999, he was a vice principal in a large further education college. He was re-elected in 2003 increasing his majority.
He holds post-graduate qualifications in computer science and education in addition to his business finance degree. He speaks Welsh and German as well as his native English.
Pugh lives in his constituency near Ruthin.
