Alwina

Alwina, one of the main characters in Mulawin, a telefantasya television series being aired by GMA Network in the Philippines, which the sequel was made into film. Filipino actress Angel Locsin played Alwina.
Alwina comes from the misspelling of the word lawin, a Tagalog word for hawk.

Alwina, who is half-mulawin and half-human. She was raised by Lourdes, a woman living alone in the outskirts of the town of Tierra Fuego.
As a child, she exhibited skills such as being able to run fast and has an eye of an eagle. She has a hunchback. Unbeknowest to all it was her wings that have already started to develop. To seal her developing powers, Lourdes took her ugat-pak (root wing).
She grew up to become one of the fairest in their town. However because of her family's secretive ways they were taunted by some people in the barrio. She was loved by Gabriel, the son of a haciendero (landlord) in the area. Aguiluz was her protector and admired her secretly from afar.
Even before Gabriel and her romance blossom, she becomes drawn to Julian, who was Aguiluz as a mortal. Through the conspiracy of Vultra, the Queen of the Ravenas and Savana, she was killed. Julian tried to save her but to no avail.
She was brought to life by the Diwatas after a series of tests. In her return the townspeople stricken with fear of witchcraft chased her to a ledge , however, at this moment she has already regained her ugat-pak and learned how to fly thus saving herself and ending up in a forest where whe meets the Scouts, a group of children lost for more than 50 years but remained young because a magic crystal from Encantadia.
Through the course of events she again meets up with Aguiluz. They stayed with the Pericos in Aliwalas. Here she meets Dakila, who tells her of her destiny as a chosen one. She makes a journey towards the Mulawin tree, where they successfully vanquish the Ravenas that has taken Avila, the home of the Mulawins, under their wings.
Through their journey she founds out that her real parents were Bagwis and Veronica, a friend of Lourdes.

Alwina was friendly, soft-spoken and kind-hearted. Through her ordeals she learns to become a warrior to protect her people and the one she loves.
