Amyloplasts
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Amyloplasts are specialized organelles within plant cells that are used to store amylopectin, a form of starch. Amyloplasts convert sugars, which are used for energy, into starches and store them. Amyloplasts also convert this starch into sugar, for when the plant needs energy. In the day, in plants, there is more sugar than starch present. At night, there is more starch than sugar present.
