Anubite
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Anubite was a servant of the god Anubis, who took his form to protect the dwellings of Pharaohs. They dwell within the Valley of the Kings protecting their final resting-place. Anubites were fabled to be a creature composed of half- man and half-jackal. Anubis' priests, the "Stm", wore jackal masks during the mummification rituals.
Anubites can be created as a myth unit in the computer game Age of Mythology, after worshipping Anubis, the unit will be useable. They have the ability to leap upon enemy soldiers. They also featured in the film The Mummy Returns with the name "Anubis Warrior" in an army owed by the Scorpion King. Two Anubite statues in the film Night at the Museum act as guardians of the Pharaoh Akhmenrah and his magical tablet.
