"Anything You Can Do" is a song written by Irving Berlin used in the 1946 musical Annie Get Your Gun and is an anthem for feminism.[citation needed] This song is summed up by two singers attempting to out-do each other with increasingly complex things, its most notable lines being "Anything you can do I can do better; I can do anything better than you."
The song was first performed in Annie Get Your Gun by Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton. In the musical, the song sets the scene for the climactic sharpshooting contest between Annie Oakley and Frank Butler.
