The Appleton East Forensics Team is a widely respected team throughout the state of Wisconsin and one of the top teams in the nation. The Appleton East Forensics Team has won more Wisconsin state championships than any other. The team also participates in the National Forensics League National Tournament, placing as high as third in the nation when team sweepstakes still were tabulated.[citation needed]
The season begins at the Glenbrooks Tournament in November, and finishes with Nationals in June. For a majority of the team members, the highlight of the season is the State Tournament in April. A highly competitive selection process produces the best of the best for State, as the Coaches must make a difficult selection of 25 entries from nearly 70 competitors. The team won state titles in 1992, [993, 1994, 1996, 1997, and 1999, and its highest recent accolades include its recent state championship in the Wisconsin Forensics Coaches Association Tournament of 2005, and co-championship with James Madison Memorial High School in 2006, bringing a grand total of eight state championships back to the home of the Patriots.[citation needed]

[edit] Trivia
The architecture of East High School centers around a three-story circular "silo." In 1992, as part of the senior class prank, the roof of the silo was painted with a large yellow "smiley face." For a time the prank was visible from outer space. (see [2]).
