Upsurt (Ъпсурт) is a Bulgarian rap-band, singing in the shopski dialect, founded at the beginning of 1996 year by Itso Hazarta, Butch , Bate Ventsi and Shlevi who are friends from their childhood age. Their first records were performed in studio "Sudibula" in January 1996.Their career took off when in November 1997 they won a rap fest in Razgrad, competing against 26 groups from all over the country.After a while, Shlevi left the band and only three members remained. Currently they have released four albums "Bozdugan(1998)","Chekai malko(2001)","Pop-Folk(2003)" and "Quattro(2005)".Their biggest hits include "Chekai Malko" (Engl.: Hold on, Bulg.: "Чакай малко") (with a sample from a famous song by Bulgarian pop singer Vasil Naidenov), "Non-Stop" (Non-Stop), "Iskam Tvoito Tialo" (I Want Your Body), "Tvoita Maika Sushto" (Your mother, too - for the movie "Y tu mamá también" of the famous Spain film director Alfonso Cuarón) and "3 v 1" (3 in 1) (featuring Galya from the Bulgarian pop duo KariZma).In 2006 they made a song "Vtora Tsedka" feat Spain star Mala Rodríguez.This song became a big summer hit.It had a Bulgarian and a Spanish part.
Itso Hazarta got married in 2004. The others are all in serious relationships.
Itso, Ventsi, Buch and Shlevi have said that they are lazy, yet they still spend a lot of their time in the studio making music. In 2005 they topped the charts with their big hit single "3 v 1" off of their album "Quattro". Their newer hits include the song "Kolega"(Colleague),"Vtora Tsedka" and Butch feat. Godslav(from Ball face)-"50 lv razhodi"(50 BGN expences).
