Archery at the 1984 Summer Olympics
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Archery at the 1984 Summer Olympics was contested in the same format used since 1972. There were two events: men's individual and women's individual. Points were in a format called the double FITA round, which included 288 arrows shot over four days at four different distances: 70 meters, 60 meters, 50 meters, 30 meters for women; 90 meters, 70 meters, 50 meters, 30 meters for men. It was the fourth, and last, time that the format was used in Olympic competition.

[edit] Top 8 table
After boycotting the 1980 Summer Olympics, the United States returned to archery in 1984 and edged out the newly powerful Korean team. While gaining only one gold medal in this competition, as opposed to the pair that they had won each previous time they had competed, the Americans were still able to get two medals (the second was a silver) and place another archer in the top 8.
Korea, which had not competed in Olympic archery since 1972, also grabbed two medals. The medals, one gold and one bronze, both came from the women's competition. This began an era of dominance for the Korean women's team, which through the 2004 Summer Olympics has won every women's archery gold medal for which they have since competed.
