Arizona State Route 87
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
State Route 87 (SR 87) is a north-south road beginning in Second Mesa, Arizona and ending at Interstate 10 exit 211, just south of Eloy, Arizona.
From Second Mesa to Winslow, there are no cities or towns (a length of about 70 miles), so drivers should be prepared. Once it leaves Winslow, there are no cities or towns until it reaches Long Valley, Arizona. That stretch of road is 55 miles long.
From Long Valley, AZ 87 enters the Mogollon Rim communities of Strawberry and Pine. It then goes for another 16 miles, passing Tonto Natural Bridge before reaching Payson.
There are then no towns for a length of 62 miles until it reaches Fountain Hills. AZ 87 is known as the Beeline Highway for this stretch of road, until it reaches Mesa.
Once it gets to Mesa, AZ 87 is known as Country Club Drive, a surface street. It then passes through Chandler, changing its name to Arizona Avenue.
The next major stop is Coolidge, and finally ends 16 miles later near Eloy.
Stretches of this road were formerly numbered as State Route 65 and State Route 166.
