Talk:Armée de l'air de l'Armistice
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This page is full of factual errors. Let us sum up the main ones:
- there never was an organization known as the "Armée de l'air de l'armistice". After the Armistice between France and the Axis powers, the Armée de l'air simply continued to exist, with a reduced strenght, until mid-November 1942 where (1) units in mainland France were disbanded, (2) units in North Africa and most other colonies (Indochina excluded) sided with the Allies and later merged with the Free French
- the Germans never provided the Armée de l'air during the armistice period with any kind of equipment, especially not with captured French planes, which they kept for their own use or gave away to their allies like Italy, Finland or Bulgaria
- the Armée de l'air did not operate over Iraq in WWII (the Luftwaffe did, from bases in Nothern Iraq, using Vichy bases in Syria on the way)
- Even when it operated against the Allies, the Armée de l'air never operated side-by-side with the Axis powers
- The list of plane types includes several types that were retired from service long before the Armistice
