[edit] Change birth place

Arnold was born in the small town of Thal, Austria and not in Graz as the headline of the article says. It does already exist an article about Thal so it is not necessary to show the wrong birth place. Please correct this.

arnold was born in cali and he still there today. he fought in WWII as a nazi, but now he is mentally sane but still evading jews on tax evasions in cali. all is good for arny.

[edit] Links repeatedly removed/added

Notice that a lot of Unofficial external links have been removed recently on the grounds that they are spam advert links. Most notably TheArnoldFans.com (which i believe is in part endorsed by Schwarzenegger) and GlobalArnold.com. I personally do not believe that any website that holds up to the Google adsense guidelines or has far more content than adverts should be removed on the grounds as being a 'spam link'. 80.193.166.70 23:59, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

These sites fail under the criteria outlined at WP:EL. Thanks. Yankees76 05:45, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
That Wiki article also says under what should be linked, 'Sites with other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article, such as reviews and interviews'. I believe a site such as TheArnoldFans.com falls directly under this. Despite having a couple of ads per page, it is by no means a site 'that primarily exist to sell products or services', and its 'objectionable amounts of advertising' as far as I know has only been questioned by you personally.(80.193.166.70 23:15, 5 February 2007 (UTC))
You forgot - "Any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a Featured article", "Any site that misleads the reader by use of factually inaccurate material or unverifiable research. See Reliable sources", "Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services", and "Links to blogs and personal webpages, except those written by a recognized authority." How is this [1] relevant to be linked from an encyclopedia? It is not Wikipedia's purpose to include a comprehensive list of external links related to each topic. No page should be linked from a Wikipedia article unless its inclusion is justified. If the site or page to which you want to link includes information that is not yet a part of the article, consider using it as a source first. Thanks. Yankees76 03:45, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
I had not read those last couple of 'news items' on that site. I can see what you mean by these violating Wiki's terms. Having said this, whenever I have viewed this site in the past, the vast proportion of its content was relevant to Arnold Schwarzenegger and non commercial. I suspect that the writers of the site's material are in fact genuinely interested in the products they seem to promoting, but it does seems there is a 'sales' agenda which I now appreciate violates the 'external link' rules. Thanks for the reply. (80.193.166.70 00:33, 7 February 2007 (UTC))
Thanks for understanding. While not worth of an external link, I do agree that it is cool site for buying T2 memorabilia, figurines and other Arnold-related material. Yankees76 16:59, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Immigration Process

arnold was an american way before he can remember, after he flew germany back in 1944 because he was scared of being merked by jews. now he just chills in cali with a fake passport.

[edit] Arnold lives where

I've heard that Arnold dosn't live in Sacramento, is this true and if so, where does he live?

I believe he lives in Brentwood with his family. --Sli723 23:28, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Protect page from IPs

Alot of vandalism right now, need to protect page. --TRYTOBENICE 03:07, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Early Life

What exactly is "As a boy, Schwarzenegger was beaten up by Nolan the Great's mini dick" all about? Jules1975 13:42, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

That would be what is known as "vandalism". Yankees76 14:48, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

note: the needed citation for the 'why don't you be more like schwarzenegger' quote is to be found in the autobiography 'arnold: education of a bodybuilder.'

Okay, but what page? Post the page number so someone can do up the citation. Thanks. Yankees76 14:38, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Confusion about Birthplace

There are two birth places listed in the article. this is physically impossible, as we all know, and I request that it be fixed. -zim64

  • He was born in a small village, Thal, but a lot of people simply say he was born in Graz, which is a much larger city near Thal. - Matthew238 23:20, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Thank you. I was unaware of this, and i now hold one piece of knowledge more in my brain.Zachary McDevitt 22:47, 13 February 2007 (UTC)zim64

[edit] Height

Can we agree on a source for his true height? It keeps getting edited, deleted, re added. Thanks, Jaskemr 22:07, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

  • There is no official height, no internmational measuring body which checks the height of all celebrities throughout their lives. Their is the height Schwarzenegger gives, 6'2", but many suspect this to be inflated, an in any event people get shorter as they get older. - Matthew238 23:20, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
What people 'suspect' is not encyclopedic and has no place here. We need to compile a list of heights pulled from verifiable sources and go from there. IMDB lists Arnold as 6'2", as does USA Today [2]. The Washington Post says 5'10 [3]. Perhaps someone can make a table where various heights and sources can be listed. Yankees76 15:04, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Not really, as it's not a reliable source by Wikipedia standards. Even the site itself admits it's based on gossip and fan photos. Yankees76 19:38, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
  • True, but I thought it might have links or references. - Matthew238 03:24, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Added a reference to an article published on his height by the Chicago reader. As 'height sites' which focus on Mr. Schwarzenegger's height are highly relevent to his 'height' as a topic, these have been included as references also. I consider these to be neutral (both sites state so) and relevent enough to add as trivia. If you disagree, please consider discussing this or flagging this for deletion by a certified moderator in accordance with Wikipedia rules. Thankyou.(Joberth 20:52, 19 February 2007 (UTC))
For the record, as per WP:LIVING (please read it), "Editors should remove any controversial material about living persons that is either unsourced, relies upon sources that do not meet standards specified in Wikipedia:Reliable sources, or is a conjectural interpretation of a source." In short anyone - not just an administrator - can aggressively remove unsourced/unverified statements in the biographies of living people. As it stands I re-wrote your text, removing weasel words that made the issue more notable than it really is. If this topic was a "much debated" topic during this election as you claim, I would expect a better source than a gossip column in the Chicago Reader. I also don't beleive that Celebheights.com meets the standards specified in Wikipedia:Reliable sources either and I've tagged it as such. Yankees76 22:09, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
If you check my original edit [4] then you'll see that I only extended what was already there, along with an additional reference. I do admit that 'fascination' (which I did write) might be considered a weasel word, hence why I removed it when re-adding the paragraph in my last edit. Thanks for pointing out WP:LIVING, as I had overlooked it previously. Also, thanks for discussing this and being both understanding and diplomatic in your response. As far as I see it, a mention of his height in the article is very similar in relevance to the article as 'allegations of misconduct' except on a much smaller scale. By presenting the public's (and publication's) view on his 'image', the article does not damage Mr. Schwarzenegger's credibility, but instead allows readers to consider the evidence (or indeed non-evidence) for themselves. I'm hoping that this trivia will reduce the amount of edits to his height (it keeps jumping anywhere between 5'11" and 6'2") and perhaps will be improved on to the point that there will be no question over the credibility whatever sources it ends up using. Should an administrator or popular opinion consider that it has no place in the article then fair enough, but I am a big believer in second opinions. (Joberth 23:37, 19 February 2007 (UTC))
The material is better (but not perfect) as it is now by attributing the "height controversy" to a specific source. I was more concerned about making sweeping statements with one source who's reliability is questionable: a gossip column in the Chicago Reader - which is an alternative weekly - a type of weekly newspaper that eschews comprehensive coverage of general news in favor of opinionated reviews and columns, investigations into edgy topics and magazine-style feature stories highlighting local people and culture.
Had this been an Associated Press article or if his height was a the topic of controversy on CNN, you'd not get any changes. However, when numerous reliable sources list him at 6'2", putting material that claims otherwise needs to be verifiable under WP:VERIFY - which as it stands right now is weak at best. Any reader should be able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source. The Chicago Reader and Celebheights.com are dubious sources - meaning that they are sources with a poor reputation for fact-checking or with no fact-checking facilities or editorial oversight. Yankees76 04:03, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Yankees76, I've once again updated this section with the intention of providing somewhat more credible sources. I welcome any comments you might have concerning them. Although I know they're far from perfect, I personally think they are an improvement. E.g Daily Mail - British National Tabloid (an improvement over Chicago Reader perhaps?) as quoted from Nigel Andrews unnofficial biography on Schwarzenegger, The National Conference of State Legislatures, San Francisco Gate (website with ties to San Francisco Chronicle). Incidently with your mention of CNN, I found an article from a couple of years back [5] when a mention is made that the troops found Arnold to be 'smaller' than they expected. It may be that this is more about his weight than height though. (Joberth 00:13, 21 February 2007 (UTC))
Looks good to me. I agree that in the CNN article the troops are referring to his muscular size - not his height, and incidentally the CNN article refers to him as 6'2". Yankees76 03:43, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] On my comment being deleted

Why? It was a perfectly valid suggestion. A quotes section would be good CyberRaptor 00:58, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

A Quotes section would be good... on wikiquote lol (= Ben Hamid =)

[edit] Arnold a racist

"Arnold is arguably a racist having made racist comments in interviews against Hispanos (even called them "brownies")and most of his actions against Hispanos as Governor" No citation is issued except in the page edit section and even then, the page links to an article that seems to be awfuly biased, comparing him to Hitler for instance, and doesn't really seem to cite where they really received this information. Does this really belong as trivia? --Wolfman Walt 01:24, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Unsourced negative material on biogrpahies of living people should be deleted on sight. See WP:LIVING. Yankees76 04:43, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Japanese Beer Commercials

Anyone else know if he was actually in these commercials or just a lookalike? Should this be added as trivia?

[edit] Schwarzenegger Wants Convicted Idaho Child Killer Sent to California for Boy's 1997 Slaying

BOISE, Idaho — California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger demanded that a convicted killer accused of kidnapping two Idaho children be shipped to his state to be tried for the 1997 slaying of a 10-year-old boy. www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,251088,00.html Crocoite 23:23, 9 February 2007 (UTC) (I'm striking-through the article summary and removing the hyperlink to FoxNews so I'm not accused of copyright infringement.) MOVE TO AMERICA: -Arnold did not workout at Gold's Gym, he worked out at World Gym in Santa Monica. (ba9428)

Actually he trained at both. Yankees76 03:57, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Millionaire

Arnold became a millionaire at age 22, not 30.

[edit] Presidency

I didn't see a mention of it, but is it worth including that Demolition Man's storyline had Arnold as a President of the US? And that he somehow (forget how exactly) got whatever prevents a foreign person from being President repealed? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Messatsu (talkcontribs) 04:51, 3 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] young arnold in brazil

could someone please integrate this into the article?

[edit] Profession?

The comments in the sidebar say not to add "Politician" to Arnold's list of professions. Why is this? Quite clearly, that's his current job. Obviously this has come up before, so either not listing politician has his professsion is a bad idea, or we need to make some clear explanation in those comments on why we're ignoring his current profession. --Don Sowell 17:17, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Schwarzenegger Posed for Gay Physique Magazine

Just as his bodybuilding career was beginning to take off, Schwarzenegger posed for a "physique" magazine in Great Britain in 1965-66 that was popular with gay men. Although Schwarzenegger is not gay, he apparently was willing to show off his already massive muscular build for perhaps a small fee and to gain wider recognition. The magazine where his photo appears is Male Classics, issue #36 (late 1965 or early 1966). The photo itself appears on page 32. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by David Walinski (talk • contribs) 04:50, 1 April 2007 (UTC).

[edit] allegations of illicit steroid use

It would be good if you changed name steroid use to allegations of illicit steroid use. althjough this is explained later, it might not be giving a good name when at first glance
