Artsvashen
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Artsvashen (also known as Artzvashen or Bashkend) is an exclave of Armenia's Gegharkunik province. It is completely surrounded by Azerbaijan and has been controlled by it since the Nagorno-Karabakh War. Today, the village is mostly inhabited by Azeris due to a forceful population exchange between Armenia and Azerbaijan during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It has been renamed Bashkend by the Azerbaijani government.
