Asheville Class Gunboat

Two ships are transferred from the USA in mid-1990 after a refit and recommissioned 18 June 1991. Both were in reserve from April 1977 having originally been built for the Cuban crisis. Similar crafts serves in Turkish, Colombian and South Korean navies.The gas-turbine propulsion engine were removed prior to transfer.The ships were reclassified as coastal patrol craft.
