Aton Edwards
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aton Edwards is the Executive Director of the International Preparedness Network [1], an organization he co-founded in 1989 (originally called P.R.I.S.M., NYC Preparedness Network). [2] [3] [4] It specializes in building disaster resistant homes and training civilians to mitigate, respond to, and recover from natural, technological, environmental, civil disasters and other emergencies. The organization also has a division called the LIFE-O.N.E. (One Nation Earth) Shelter From The Storm program [5] designs special disaster-resistant emergency shelters and homes for impoverished communities. Many of the homes used in the LIFE-O.N.E. program are designed by Edwards, such as his "Gaiatat", a portable disaster resistant floating structure that is constructed from re-cast scrap metal and plastic. Edwards also designs many other types of related equipment for his organization. He was motivated to create the Life O.N.E. project by the birth of his son Amen Shepsu Adio in 1998.

[edit] Improvisational Adaptation
He is also the creator of a preparedness program called IA (Improvisational Adaptation), a protocol based on the animal cell (human) where practitioners become self-contained units (like cells) that use the specific preparedness related tools, skills and information to stabilize and maintain their living environments during disasters in a process similar to the internal workings of the organelles within an animal cell. His IA operational protocol places the individual at the center of their own personal preparedness/disaster response program. Edwards feels that this is the only realistic and feasible way for civilians to protect themselves from the tremendous dangers and hazards that large scale disasters can create.[www.marc.org/emergency/pdfs/safetycitynews.pdf][citation needed]
In the summer of 2006, Process Media Inc. http://processmediainc.com/ released Preparedness NOW![6]a civilian emergency preparedness manual written by Edwards featuring his unique disaster preparedness protocol IA. The project is part of a number of other related books, videos & other products that Edwards will release in 2007-2008 as part of his The Transitions Chroniclesseries, something he calls, the most critical 21st century human survival program ever created.
