when was he born? in his page it says that it was on november 17th, but here it says that it was on august 9. anyone knows?

Personally, I think that "events, births, deaths" is a better order to put these things in than "births, deaths, events," and in the past I have always changed these pages to that order whenever I edit one. When I go to a date page, I believe that the most significant thing is what happened on that day or year, not who was born then; people who were born then generally aren't going to become significant until decades later. - From Netscape's page, it "was the first company to attempt to capitalize on the nascent World Wide Web". Regarding its IPO, we have "Netscape had a successful IPO on August 9, 1995. The stock was to be offered at $14 per share; a last-minute decision doubled the initial offering to $28 per share; the stock's value reached $75 on the first day of trading, which was nearly a record for a stock's first-day gain. The company's revenues doubled every quarter in 1995." Thomas Friedman says, "First, it brought the Internet alive by giving us the browser to display images and data stored on Web sites. Second, the Netscape stock offering triggered the dot-com boom ..." (quote grabbed online).

- Betty Boop seems to have premiered on August 8, not August 9, 1930.
- I argue the The Headington Shark is less famous than Netscape; Google gives under 200 hits for the former.
- It also seems that the 1965 space disaster isn't mentioned on the Space Disasters page: try searching for "August 9", "Titan", "Little Rock", "Arkansas", or "53".

- I am adding this back and making some of my suggestions above. If you disagree with this change, please comment here. There was just a Slashdot article on the subject, which is interesting, although perhaps unconvincing. See my reasons above.
Your examples are not reasons: they are relevant to the issue of whether theose should be included but are not the least bit relevant to the Netscape entry: inclusion of one says nothing about exclusion of another. --Calton | Talk 02:19, July 16, 2005 (UTC)
