Avalon Theatre
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Avalon Theatre was originally a theatre built in 1921. In 1934, the Schine Chain Theatres purchased the Avalon and renovated it with an art deco theme. It became one of the most famous movie houses in the area, before eventually falling into disrepair and being closed from 1985 to 1987. In 1989, it was restored as a performing arts center and then purchased in 1992 by the town of Easton, Maryland. The Theatre then became a major music venue and center for community events in the area. The Avalon also hosts ArtHouse Live, a theater company focused on performing modern American drama.
