Back spinning
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Back spinning is a disc jockey (DJ) technique using two turntables. The DJ plays one record while turning the record on a second turntable backward, repeating phrases and beats in a rhythmic manner. The DJ has two turntables with the bare essentials of music, such a beats and samples playing. Using the cross fader on the mixer they switch to one turntable, spin back the second to a set of beats, cue that turntable up and let the record go. Mixing with the cross fader then gives the effect of a piece of music being played not a dj with two turntables.
