[edit] [Kid’s pics]

Hello!

Thanks, those are great kids pictures, just the kind of thing I want. I especially like picture5, although picture4 is very interesting, with the head, but the mouth placed on the body. Picture6 is also good, it shows organized scribbling, and it is interesting how he has named these as "fish". I sure could use any of these, but if I had to choose one I like picture5. I'd be more than happy to help you with uploading, or anything else, just ask.Zeimusu | (Talk page) July 5, 2005 14:29 (UTC)

By the way, if you want to sign your name like I just did you can use the ~~~~ code. It's used on talk pages a lot.

Thanks Zeimusu | (Talk page) 11:31, July 10, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sybian article

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed you commented on the edit summay by saying "Spelling, typos, grammar. How did I end up here?!" Well, no matter how you found it, thanks for working on the article. Zscout370 (Sound Off) 5 July 2005 19:36 (UTC)

[edit] Most common name policy

Sorry for not responding to your question - I only visit that page occasionally. Unfortunately, it seems that there isn't any single page which contains the policy in question — it's split between several different pages. The most direct treatment of the convention is Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English), but there are also relevant sections in the Manual of Style (and its various subpages). None of the guidelines cover the entire topic in one go, however, so on reflection, I don't think a policy page is the best place to raise the issue. I would actually suggest raising it at the Village pump policy section, which would give us an outside view. (In fact, a lot of it has been gone over before, I think. Someone will probably be able to give you some better citations than I can.) -- Vardion 21:34, 23 July 2005 (UTC)

Thanks Vardion, will raise there and report back. Barefootguru 08:34, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] iTunes external link

You recently commented on the issue concerning the external link on the iTunes article. However, I was hoping you would weigh in here. You are already aware of the controversy concerning the issue, but I was hoping the external article might be considered on its merits, not on suspicions of my motivations. Again, your comment/vote would be appreciated. Thanks. Uriah923 15:25, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

Uriah923, you come across as a rational and level-headed person, but I'm beginning to see you're obsessed with OmniNerd.
You have been repeatedly told not to create any more links to OmniNerd, yet even on the above posting you linked the article yet again (subsequently removed by Taxman).
I still think the OmniNerd iTunes article has merits, and should normally qualify for an external link. I found it well researched and a fascinating read. Unfortunately because of your SEO campaign this is not going to happen. i.e. Because of your past actions, OmniNerd articles can no longer be considered on a case-by-case basis—a blanket ruling has been made against them.
I've already stated my views in the original discussion, and I'm not going to repeat them for the follow up you started.

[edit] Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism

Hi. When listing a vandalism on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism please check the conditions listed at the top of the page. The user you added has not edited since yesterday and does not appear to have edited since his last warning. The vandalism you referenced was done prior to his last warning. Since he has not returned and the IP may be shared we cannot block him at this time. - Tεxτurε 18:05, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi. His last warning was 21:43, 13 December 2005 (UTC). Mac 128K was emptied 2005-12-14 09:37:25 — from my calcs that’s after the warning and within the last 24 hours… Barefootguru 18:22, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the merge to List of applications supporting OpenDocument

Hi, thanks for the merge, good job. I have redirect ODT (Computing) to OpenDocument as there were not much material there --Khalid hassani 14:17, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks ☺ Barefootguru 18:07, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Adoption of ODF in Massachusetts

Hi, you have deleted the context part in Adoption of ODF in Massachusetts. In Wikipedia each Article must be self containing, people are note supposed to have read OpenDocument before coming to Adoption of ODF in Massachusetts, so they must know what is this ODF thing, who promote it, what is the orgnanization body who developed it and so on. So I have reverted to to document to your Revision as of 18:05, 27 December 2005 --Khalid hassani 16:23, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for dropping a note here, though I think you mean Microsoft position on OpenDocument support. I’m not convinced as this is really a sub-page of OD—I think people are unlikely to go there unless they know who Microsoft is and what OD is. Still, happy for the paras to be restored, though think you should rephrase the intro so it starts by summarising the article subject: there’s now 3 paras of background on OD followed by only 1 on what the article’s actually about.
Please don’t do blanket reverts because you don’t like one change—I’m annoyed because there was other work in there too which I now have to redo. Barefootguru 20:05, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] email vs. e-mail

FYI: Despite your cheerfully optomistic Edit Summary in Honeypot, there is no "standardized spelling" of email (or e-mail or Email). The word remains too new for consensus to have been reached. I left your change, but I'll bet lots of people would roll it back because they think the other version is "right". - DavidWBrooks 21:39, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I guess ‘internally consistant’ would have been a better description. Category:E-mail was a mess of inconsistency, which is how I ended up at Honeypot.
The more major wp articles have e-mail, as do most dictionaries, which is consistent with g-sting, i-beam, x-ray, etc.
Thanks for the polite feedback, I’ve been waiting for the fallout after being bold ;-) Barefootguru 22:01, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] iTunes links

What is your reasoning for editing out the links on iTunes? I hope you are not acting on an outdated issue (the one we discussed previously on the iTunes talk page). At that time, there was a blanket decision made against links to articles published on OmniNerd, but since that time things have been resolved. First, I have agreed to not add any links to the site, as I am an administrator there. Second, I have shown that I am dedicated to WP (see my contributions).

If you look at the links that exist, all have been reviewed and added by WP administrators. Additionally, Taxman (the administrator "in charge" of the previous issue) has observed one such case of an OmniNerd link and has left it alone because of the reasons I listed here (see Talk:Conventional_warfare).

I have been playing by the rules and have made a lot of contributions to Wikipedia. Any links have been added by long standing users of good reputation. There is, most definitely, nothing "spam-like" about anything going on. I ask that you reconsider the removal of the iTunes references, given the information brought to light here. uriah923(talk) 03:38, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi again uriah923 ;-) To expand on what I put in the page history: when I edited the article (for another change), Wikipedia said it wouldn’t allow the page due to OmniNerd links—they were on a spam block list. Personally I have no problems with the link I commented out or the one which was already commented out. I had quite a job even preserving them within comments, but feel free to try and get them reinstated. If you don’t have the time/inclination either I’m happy to post a message on the talk page for someone to take up the cause. Barefootguru 04:57, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
I will take up the cause, but I'm not sure how this whole things works. It appears that someone has added "omninerd.com" to a blacklist here, and I assume that is the problem. I suggest we move the conversation to the iTunes talk page so you, Mushroom and I can work together. Please come comment there. uriah923(talk) 05:57, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Essjay updated his info. Please see my comment on the iTunes talk page and the blacklist talk page. uriah923(talk) 02:26, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
The blacklisting was removed. Thanks for your help and comments. uriah923(talk) 07:10, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Auckland meetup

Just to let you know that a meetup is planned in Auckland for the 25th of June (see Wikipedia:Meetup/Auckland for more details), and that you are cordially invited. GeorgeStepanek\talk 00:21, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, but I’m Wellington based. Barefootguru 07:18, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
