Believers of the Source

Now a disbanded Faction of the Planescape universe, Believers of the Source (also known as Godsmen) proclaim that every mortal can reach godhood. They are for the most part allied with the Lost (Athar), though they focus on a positive note (the possible attainment of godhood by mortals) while Athar focus on a more negative note (the lack of qualitative difference between mortals and so-called Gods). They believe that anyone can become more powerful (or regress) by making the right choices in life, though the definition of 'right' is up for grabs.
An important note: While most Godsmen do consider the Gods to be Gods, their beliefs and those of the Lost could conceivably be merged without much alteration.
Their belief in the source may easily be related to the real-life's Omega Point theory.
Their headquarters was the Great Foundry and they were led by Factol Ambar Vergrove.
Godsmen are not transhumanists, though it’s non-obvious what they are in modern day terms. Certainly they believe in reincarnation and transcending from one form into another, moving up and down a ranking based on lessons learned or forgot in the latest of a series of lives. They are not however focused on the human condition - they believe in other lives as animals of all sorts, though there are in-faction arguments whether animal lives are above or below human lives in the order of things.
Like the Dustmen, the Godsmen's beliefs affect resurrection attempts. A deceased Godsmen cannot be ressurected, but the soul will be automatically reincarnated in a new body of its choosing.[1]
