Bello of Carcassonne
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bello (died circa 810), probably a Visigoth, was the first known Count of Carcassonne. He was probably born to a noble family of Conflent which was loyal to the Carolingians.
Bello stands at the head of the Bellonid Dynasty which reached its apex in Wilfred the Hairy, himself usually regarded as the progenitor of the House of Barcelona.
Bello had two sons by an unknown wife:
- Guisclafred, his successor in Carcassonne
- Sunifred I, Count of Barcelona
Two other men were probably his sons:
- Oliba I, Count of Carcassonne
- Sunifred I, Count of Ampurias
