Bertha Fry
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bertha Fry (born 1 December 1893) is an American supercentenarian. She is the fifth oldest documented person currently alive [1], and is living in Indiana.
Fry is one of the very few surviving verified people born in 1893. Only Yone Minagawa, Edna Parker, Maria de Jesus and Helen Stetter were born earlier that year; Florence Finch was born on 22 December.
Bertha was born in a farm in Vevay, Indiana. There has been remarkable longevity in her family. Her first husband died in the 1930s, and she re-married during the Second World War. [2] Fry turned 113 in December 2006.
It is interesting to note though that, while she is the fifth oldest person living in the world, she is only the second oldest in the state of Indiana. Edna Parker, who resides in Shelbyville, Indiana, is older.
