Blagoveshchensk (Russian: Благове́щенск) is a town in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia, located 42 km north of Ufa on the right bank of the Belaya River. Population: 32,989 (2002 Census); 27,705 (1989 Census).
Founded in 1756; town status since 1941.
On December 10-14, 2004, several hundred citizens were violently beaten by the local militsiya.[1][2] [3]
