Blandest
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Blandest" is a song recorded by the American rock band Nirvana in June 1988 at Reciprocal Studios, Seattle, Washington. The producer was Jack Endino.
The song was originally going to be used as the b-side for the first single of the band Love Buzz but was dropped in favour of "Big Cheese". The version of "Spank Thru" that would appear on the Sub Pop 200 compilation was recorded over "Blandest", which remained only on cassette copies the band made . "Blandest" was also dropped from being included on the Nirvana debut album Bleach in 1989. According to Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic the band wanted to include "Blandest" on the Incesticide album released in 1992 but the original recording had been erased. However, the cassette copies were found years later and it appeared on various unofficial bootlegs. The song was eventually officially released in 2004 on the Nirvana rarities box set With the Lights Out, sourced from a cassette copy of a band member. "Blandest" would again be officially released on Sliver: The Best of the Box in 2005.
