Bones is a 2001 horror movie about a gangster that comes back from the dead to avenge his murder. The film stars Snoop Dogg as the title character Jimmy Bones.
The film is also a tribute to the blaxploitation films of the 1970s.

In the the year 1979. Jimmy Bones was a drug kingpin respected and loved as the neighborhood protector. When he is betrayed and brutally murdered by a corrupt cop, Bones' elegant brownstone building becomes his tomb. Fast forward to 2001, during which the neighborhood become a ghetto, and his home has turned into condemned ruin. Four teens brought the properity and renovated it as an nightclub, encountering a black dog who is actually the spiritual manifestation of Jimmy's tortured spirit. Once he got himself ressurected, Jimmy was intent on having revenge on those responsible for his death, those who betrayed him, and any who gets in his way even if it's his love Pearl or the daughter she had prior to Jimmy's death.

In their review, Ebert & Roeper disagreed as to whether the movie was intended as comedy or horror. Roeper, who interpreted it as a comedy, gave it an enthusiastic thumbs-up. However, the movie has been marketed purely as a horror film.
As of October 11, 2005, the film has an IMDB rating of 4.2/10 stars, significantly below average.

Pam Grier is seen in the film as Jimmy Bones' love interest; although she is older than Snoop Dogg; this is explained by having him murdered twenty years before he was reanimated. They have collaborated together earlier in one of his music videos, and also played an artist-producer couple in the episodes of The L Word in 2004.
