Braith Anasta (born Braith Anastasakis January 14, 1982 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia) is an Australian rugby league player for the Sydney Roosters in the National Rugby League competition and also for New South Wales & Australia. He previously played for the Canterbury Bulldogs from 2000 to 2005. His position of choice is at Lock, though he also plays Five-Eighth.
Braith's switch to the Roosters has failed to live up to expectations. He was again awarded the Most Over-rated player in the game by his peers in the Rugby League Week Player Poll. On 26th July he was reported to have suffered a groin injury which put him out of the remainder of the 2006 NRL season.
In the months leading up to the 2007 NRL season, Braith was practicing to be shifted to Lock under new Roosters coach Chris Anderson, but has only played one game there. This is due to Anderson's change of mind. It is rumoured that he has been shifted back to Five-Eighth, due to the inexperience of the Roosters new halves, although, as this has always been an issue, it has been wondered why Anasta was trained as Lock, if he was never going to play there. After undergoing surgery on his groin late 2006, Braith has been back to 100% fitness, and has been playing without any trouble from his groin during the 2007 NRL season and the Roosters' 100th season.
His Greek heritage makes Anasta eligible to represent the Greece national rugby league team.
