Elei Sinai (Hebrew: אלי סיני, lit. Towards Sinai) was an Israeli settlement in the north of Gaza Strip. It was established in 1982 (Sukkot 5743) by a group who had been evacuated from Yamit. It got its name because of the yearning to come back to Sinai. About 100 families lived in the place. Avi Farhan, from Yamit's pulled out, and Arik Herfez, whose daughter had been killed by Palestinian terrorists belonged to the most famous of Elei Sinai's residents. The settlement was pulled out in August 21st, 2005 in the framework of the Disengagement Plan. Among the arguments against opposition proposed by Farhan included allowing the settlers to remain in their homes as Palestinian citizens, which was rejected by the Palestinian and Israeli governments. A part of Elei Sinai's residents was pulled out in "Hand to Brothers" operation or before. Most of the residents protested that the government hadn't cared for housing results for the community and they lighted tires in the entrance of the settlement. This part pulled out itself in the end, after a departure ceremony and went out by foot from the settlement, when Arik Herfez in the head of the convoy dragging with him the memorialization monument in the memory of Liron and Assaf, which had been positioned in the settlement. - Singles who are not belong to any group.
- Avi Farhan and a part of his family establish a new group and hope to establish a new community in the center of the country.
The government responded in 2006 to the demand of Elei Sinai pulled-out to be acclimatized in Palmahim Kibbutz after the Disengagement Plan execution, after they had been spending many months in a protest tent encampment. Palmachim Kibbutz members expressed their agreement for the pulled-out absorption and blessed them for their joining.
