Enemy Foot Soldier
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Foot Soldier is a generic term for the various villainous henchmen from Power Rangers. There are several varieties, each one serving a different evil monarch or ruler. They are typically used to perform chores or wear the Rangers down before the Monster of the Day attacks them, and pose little threat by themselves. They can usually be defeated quite easily.
After they have been defeated in combat, the battered foot soldiers typically disappear or teleport away. In most cases it is unclear whether this means that they are destroyed, or if they merely teleport back to their evil base to recover. There are a few exceptions to this: Z-putties are clearly destroyed, as they are seen to break apart, whereas Tengas are clearly not destroyed, as they usually fly away after a battle.
They are as follows:
[edit] Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
- Putty Patrollers: Grey warriors made by Finster of magic clay who serve Rita Repulsa. They are extremely stupid and act as dumb muscle. Their only language is a sort of babbling that occasionally represents the "gobbling" sound made by a turkey. Rita Repulsa would later collect a new form of nearly indestructible magic clay to create her deadly Super Putty Patrollers. They had pumpkin heads when serving the Pumpkin Rapper and football jerseys when serving Rhinoblaster. They are sometimes armed with a blade arm, boulder arm, or a shooting arm. They can also take human shape now and then, and often use this for covert actions. A group of Putty Patrollers also trained under Goldar to use the Badges of Darkness to become the Mutant Rangers. Adapted from the Golem Hei from Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger.
- Z-Putty Patrollers: Lord Zedd would later create an improved model of Rita's soldiers known as the Z-Putty Patrollers, superior Putties clothed in white suits with only one weakness: a large medallion with a "Z" in it on their chest armor that causes them to fly apart when struck. Original U.S. concept inspired by the Golem Hei from Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger..
- Tenga Warriors: Giant birds hatched from a nest of eggs brought to the moon by Rito Revolto. They are later enhanced by special bird feed brought by Master Vile, so that only the Power Rangers' Metallic Armor can defeat them. They are far more intelligent than Putties and are extremely keen when it comes to destruction, and actually had the ability to speak. They even had their own song.
- Ooze Beings: Never given an actual name other than being called Ivan's "kids", these ooze creatures are created by Ivan in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. They appear before the Tengu Warriors in the film.
- Tengu Warriors: Giant birds created by Ivan Ooze with an oozed beak in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. Destroyed by Ivan Ooze's purple zapping. They are identical to Tenga Warriors.
[edit] Power Rangers: Zeo
- Cogs: Mechanical servants who serve as the footsoldiers of the Machine Empire. The Cogs can only be defeated by short circuiting or disassembly, and are produced at the rate of 1 per hour. Their helmet can open up and fire eye beams at their targets. Their primary weapon are spears with an electric charge tip. They pilot the Quadrafighter attack crafts. These warriors, like the Tengas, also had the ability to speak, albeit in monotone robotic voices. Adapted from the Barro Soldiers from Chouriki Sentai Ohranger.
- Tenga Warriors: See information in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
[edit] Power Rangers: Turbo
- Pirahnatrons: Fish-like warriors who serve Divatox. Their arsenal include mallets, crossbows, and motorcycles. They even had their own song in "Power Rangers Turbo". Original U.S. Creation.
- Putra Pods: Slimy creatures commanded by Divatox. These mutants are easily frightened. Original U.S. creation.
- Chromites: Robotic beings who serve as the foot soldiers of General Havoc and the crew of the Space Base. They resemble an early Power Rangers Turbo villain, a Shadow Chromite. Adapted from Whumpers from Gekisou Sentai Carranger.
[edit] Power Rangers in Space
- Quantrons: Robots with large blade weapons who serve Astronema and pilot the Velocifighters. Their suits appear to be hollow; Andros and Zhane disguised themselves as Quantrons once. Original U.S. creation.
- Pirahnatrons: Featured in many episodes. These fish-like creatures also served Divatox in Power Rangers Turbo. They usually accompanied Dark Specter.
- Craterites (voiced by Kirk Thornton): These creatures existed in a virtual simulation that Andros and the other Rangers used to train. A lightning storm struck the Astro Megaship while the Rangers were training in the holodeck, resulting in the Craterites' being pulled into the real world and thus overtaking Angel Grove and replacing as many humans as they could (a send up to Invasion of the Body Snatchers); once the Rangers figure out what's going on, they fight against the Craterite invasion. This resulted in the Craterites combining into a giant monster, which was eventually destroyed by the Astro Megazord. The Combined form of the Craterites (now human sized) was part of the invasion in "Countdown to Destruction" and it also appeared in the Shadow World's underground tomb when Queen Bansheera opened the gate in the finale of Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue. Adapted from Kunekune from Denji Sentai Megaranger.
- Z-Putty Patrollers: Seen in the beginning and the finale.
- Cogs: Seen in the beginning and the finale.
[edit] Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy
- Stingwingers: Insectoid soldiers who serve Scorpius and later Trakeena. They can fly and have blades at the end of their hands. The Sting Wingers were responsible for the destruction of the Stratoforce and Centaurus Megazords. Original U.S. creation.
- Swabbies: Pirates with bandannas, moustaches, striped boxer shorts and orange bodies, armed with pirate sabers, who serve Captain Mutiny. Adapted from the Yarots from Seijuu Sentai Gingaman.
- Pirahnatrons: At least two of these fish-like creatures were present as hired muscle when the Pink Ranger's Quasar Saber was black marketed on the planet Onyx.
[edit] Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue
- Batlings: Minor bat-like Demons who serve Queen Bansheera, using short swords in battle. Adapted from Imps from Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGo-V.
- Ghouls: Cloaked Grim Reaper-like sword-wielders who serve Trakeena when she attacks Mariner Bay and shoot energy from their eyes. Adapted from Grim Reapers from Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGo-V vs. Gingaman.
[edit] Power Rangers: Time Force
- Cyclobots: Robot warriors created by Frax in the future who serve Ransik. They are armed with sword-like rifles. They are normally summoned when any of the villains tosses a bunch of nuts and bolts that then transform into these one-eyed robots. Adapted from the Zenittos from Mirai Sentai Timeranger.
- Demon Soldiers: Demons who arose from the grave and served Vypra. There were five of these demons, each of their masks were the same color as one of the Rangers' colors (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow and Pink). They were vanquished by the combined efforts of the Lightspeed and Time Force Rangers.
[edit] Power Rangers: Wild Force
- Putrids: Lesser Org soldiers created from pollution who serve Master Org. Toxica normally summons them by spilling out a pink slime from a shell she carries. The Org Empire's system of authority is determined by how many horns they have, one-horned Orgs have more authority than others. Ironically the Putrids only have one horn but are the lowest in power, serving as minions to other Orgs. Adapted from Orgets from Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger.
- Cogs: Helped the Generals of the Machine Empire dig up Serpentera.
[edit] Power Rangers: Ninja Storm
- Kelzaks: Kelzaks are the foot soldiers of Lothor. They can be summoned to a certain place by the Personal Alien Manager. They use daggers to fight their enemies and are extremely hyperactive. The Kelzaks were either destroyed by the Power Rangers, sent into the Abyss of Evil, or scattered somewhere in the universe. Adapted from Genin Magerappa from Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger.
- Kelzak Furies: A red, upgraded version of Kelzaks were the Kelzak Furies, created by Beevil, Marah's friend. They are three times stronger than the regular Kelzaks. Like regular Kelzaks, their fate is unknown. Original Power Rangers conception inspired by the Genin Magerappa from Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger.
[edit] Power Rangers: Dino Thunder
- Tyrannodrones (T-Drones): Dinosauric humanoids created by Anton Mercer and Tommy Oliver, they serve Mesogog. Original U.S. creation.
- Triptoids: Creatures brought out of a video game, they were recruited by Zeltrax. They are the grunts in white or black with green shield outline with a red circle in it on their chests. Adapted from the Barmia soldiers from Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger.
[edit] Power Rangers: S.P.D.
- Krybots: Robotic soldiers equipped with arm cannons. Aside from the standard Krybots, there are also Blueheads, who serve as the honor guard of Emperor Gruumm, and Orangeheads, powerful sword wielding Krybots that Broodwing sold. When Gruumm purchases krybots, they are re-named Troobian warriors (after Gruumm's army title, the Troobian Army). Only Blueheads and Orangeheads were capable of speech, although the normal krybots have a strange "waow" language. All versions of Krybots wield blaster arms, though Orangeheads wielded swords and were not seen to have blaster arms until long after their introduction. Orangeheads' swords originally had snowflake-like hilts, but later Orangeheads' swords strongly resembled Chrono Sabers. These new swords demonstrated no new abilities and the change may be merely cosmetic. In their first few appearances and in the episode Wormhole, Orangeheads proved capable of proving a match for a Ranger in one-to-one combat, though eventually the Rangers became used to fighting them. Normal Krybots, Blueheads, and Orangeheads are adapted from the Anaroids, Batsuroids, and Igaroids from Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, respectively.
The Blueheads were voiced by Derek Judge while the Orangeheads were voiced by James Gaylyn.
[edit] Power Rangers: Mystic Force
- Hidiacs: Masked, zombie-like foot soldiers that make up the bulk of the Underworld army. They use axes in battle and can spit exploding slime balls. Adapted from the Zobils from Mahou Sentai Magiranger.
- Styxoids: More powerful zombies that sometimes supervise the lesser Hidiacs. They carry large spear-like weapons that can fire energy projectiles. On a couple of occasions they have been shown to be able to speak. Adapted from the High Zobils from Mahou Sentai Magiranger.
The Styxoids are voiced by Nick Kemplen and Jim McLarty.
[edit] Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive
- Chillers: Icy, golem-like foot soldiers for Flurious that carry torches that become little scythes. Adapted from the Combatant Karths from GoGo Sentai Boukenger.
- Lava Lizards: Reptilian henchmen for Moltor that carry swords as their weapons. They are capable of human speech, and can survive being thrown into molten lava. Adapted from the Dragonoid Soldier Jaryuu from GoGo Sentai Boukenger.
