Evan Vucci is an Associated Press photographer based in Washington, D.C.

He is known for his photograph of George W. Bush throwing the ceremonial first pitch at the Washington Nationals opening game on April 14, 2005, which was published the following morning on the front page of the Los Angeles Times. The image was immediately recognized for its singular iconic value.
Vucci distinguished himself in 2003 as a combat photographer with the European Press Photo Agency during the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. As a staff photographer with the Associated Press, Vucci brings his unique vision to high-profile political and athletic events in the nation's capital.
He lives in Washington with his wife, a former Redskins cheerleader.
