Talk:Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Original Soundtrack
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a first draft of the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children OST article that I have just created. This is also my first article I've created from scratch, so hopefully I did a half-decent job here. That said, here are a few issues to note:
- The image is a scan from the front of the slipcover. It is a high-quality scan that I didn't personally take. If anyone has objections about its size or whatever, feel free to resize it and reupload it or tell me and I'll do it myself. I don't feel bothered to do it unless it's an issue.
*The album info template leaves a little to be desired. If someone has a better template, please do change it. Otherwise, if someone is more knowledgeable about Uematsu's albums, it could use that info. In fact, I'm really not quite sure if the album should be by Uematsu or Square-Enix or some other party altogether. But since it listed Uematsu as the one that created most if not all the music, I went with him. Thanks! - XDB 15:51, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- Personally, I'm pleased with the way I arranged the tracklist and spent a considerable amount of time doing so. If the arrangement isn't suitable for Wikipedia or if there's a much nicer way of arranging it, be my guest. By the way, if you're seeing a bunch of blocks in the titles, it's Japanese and your browser isn't Japanese-capable. ;) Until there's an official English release that's faithful to the Japanese release (thus not needing a different tracklist for each version), I'm leaving the Japanese where it is so as to be accurate to the tracklist on the actual album.
I'm not trying to dictate control over this article, I'm just trying to convey why I did things the way I did. I stand firm by the information I put in this article, so please discuss before you make any significant changes to the info that's already been included. Thanks. - XDB 03:11, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
Just to clarify what the info in small type next to the times that are next to the tracks are: These are for your convienence [sp] when tagging your MP3s or providing English info on the tracks or whatever you wish to use them for. Essencially [sp], they are pure English translation/localization based on reputable info. I'm not mean-spirited and I do realize that Psi-edit was trying to make a useful contribution and I do realize I was not clear about the purpose of this text. I apologize for that. I will probably make an edit soon and add a paragraph or something trying to describe the tracks. Yes, I do realize what you were trying to do there Psi and I appreciate it. I don't want to run useful contributors off by acting like a dictator over this article, but I'm just trying my best to have a clean and concise article rather than people throwing info into a messy pile. I just really wish that I wasn't the only one writing on this talk page... :( - 216.78.103.143 23:56, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] PLEASE READ
I'm tired of having to revert this thing constantly because of half-assed edits. I'm calling it for what it is: vandalism. Look, I have 4 links to various sites at the bottom of the article that proves without a doubt that the content of this article is as accurate as humanly possible. If you can't be arsed to discuss the changes you wanna make or provide some sort of link to a reputable reference, then please don't bother...you're just gonna get reverted. Look at some of the earlier edits not made by me (216.78.* or XDB): they have stayed because they contribute something to the article rather than fill my info with a bunch of garbage. I don't care about your adversion to Japanese characters or whatever the deal is (and like I said, if you don't see Japanese; that's your problem, not mine), this article is based on a Japanese product and until there is an equivalent English version released, the Japanese-relevant info will remain as-is. You can quite easily go to the official site and see that the info here reflects what their info says. I think that's all I have to say on this matter. - 216.78.103.143 23:25, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Not that anybody reads the discussion page...
...but there's been a lot of changes made to this article since I've last been here and most of it looks good. I'm not reverting anything anymore and I'll probably not do anymore editing to it since all the necessary info is there; every edit beyond that is merely cosmetical. However, I'm torn on the layout of the tracklist. I can't say I agree with the kanji/hiragana/katakana translated to romanji right next to the track name for whatever reason. On top of that, the table layout looks horrendous and contains too much redundant information. But, whatever.
I'll spare you all my rant on how everyone just edits an article to make it look how they feel it should look with no concensus with the rest of the editors, blah blah blah...but I'm outta here.
