Florent Sinama-Pongolle (born October 20, 1984 in Saint-Pierre, Réunion) is a French football player who plays as a forward. He is regarded as a good prospect for the future French national team, and his pace is his best attribute.
He was signed by Liverpool F.C. in 2003, along with Anthony Le Tallec, from Le Havre by the then manager Gérard Houllier after an impressive performance in the 2001 European Under-16 Championship, as well as the 2001 Under-17 World Championship. He was named Player of the Tournament as France won the latter competition.
On 31 January 2006, he signed for Blackburn Rovers on loan until the end of the season.
He scored 2 goals for Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup against Luton Town to help bring them back from 3-1 down to a final score of 5-3. Liverpool went on to win the FA Cup 2006.
He was most recently with the France U21 for the European U-21 Championship, which took place from May 23–June 4, 2006 in Portugal.
On 30 August 2006, Sinama-Pongolle signed a 1 year contract at Recreativo Huelva, with an option to sign on for a further two years.
