GameSpot's Best and Worst of the Year Winners
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Online gaming community GameSpot annually rewards excellence and highlights poor performance each year in its Best and Worst awards. From 1996 through 2002, GameSpot held separate awards for PC and console games (due to consoles being covered in sister site videogames.com, though results of the console awards are not available before 2000. In 2003, all PC and console games began to compete against all others, regardless of system.
The roughly forty current awards are chosen by the site's editors and are classifiable into four divisions: Special Achievement, Dubious Honors, Genre Awards, and the Platform Awards. One game is chosen as Game of the Year. The public can vote on GameSpot for their own winners, which are later tabulated and announced as the Readers' Choice winners. [1].
