Gedwey Ignasia

Gedwey Ignasia is a term from the Inheritance Trilogy meaning "shining palm". When you get it you experience burning pains. It is a permanent, shining silver mark on the palm of the hand of a dragon rider. This mark is created when the person destined to be the dragon's rider first touches the dragon.[1] The Gedwey Ignasia forms a bond between the bearer (the rider) and his or her dragon which allows the pair to communicate psychically and to share their strength, as well as granting the rider the ability to use magic.[2]
