George Miller, born George Wade Dornberger, (February 17, 1950 - March 5, 2003) was a stand-up comedian. He first performed standup at age 21 and made his network television debut on The Tonight Show in 1976. He appeared on national television programs several times in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, and was a friend to many in the West Coast comedy scene who later enjoyed tremendous success, including David Letterman and Jerry Seinfeld. Sadly, he died on March 5, 2003 at the age of 53 from a blood clot in his brain.
On the March 2, 2006 broadcast of the Late Show with David Letterman (show number 2522), Letterman related an incident about when George broke up with a girlfriend. George was so upset that he broke into the girlfriend's apartment, where he wrote an obscenity across a nightstand picture of Jesus Christ. Understandably upset, the girlfriend phoned the police. The cops went to George's house and confronted him. George denied having anything to do with what was being alleged. When he asked what happened, the cops told him that someone came into her apartment and wrote an obscenity on a picture of Jesus Christ. George said, "Jesus Christ? I thought it was Dan Fogelberg!"
