Gibson Lake

Gibson Lake is a lake in Georgian Bay Township, District of Muskoka, bordering on the Wahta Mohawk Territory. The southern areas of the lake are poplular with cottagers from southern Ontario, and a few people do live there permanently. The northern side of the lake is dominated by a Native Mohawk reserve which has seen much development in recent years. The lake contains a small island where a yearly picnic festival takes place on the first weekend of August.
The area contains many different types of flora and fauna, including black bear, deer, moose, raccoon, beaver, martin, chipmunks, and numerous types of freswater fish. It is also located in a cranberry growing region.
