Global spacetime structure
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Global spacetime structure is the structure of spacetime on a global level, i.e. taking into account all points of the spacetime. This is studied in many areas of physics, most notably in Einstein's theory of general relativity. Global structure includes topological structure and conformal structure. In certain kinds of spacetime (including some of the most familiar models of black holes), this conformal structure can be indicated using a two-dimensional diagram called a Penrose diagram.
