Grant Collins

Grant Collins (born in Australia) is a professional drummer and popular drum clinician.
Described as a Master Drummer and one of "Worlds Hottest Professional Drummers", Grant Collins has an intense, almost spiritual passion for the drums. Grant Collins was born in Australia and has lived there his whole life, he now currently lives in Brisbane in Queensland. Grant's passion for the drums has seen him tour his dynamic one man show, not just all over his native Australia, but also with a series of sell out international tours. He has performed for thousands at sold out venues, pushing the limits and confines as a solo performer.
Graduating from the Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Music in 1997, he was named 'Winner of the Australian Academy of Music Composition competition' during his first year of study. In '96, Grant's success in 'Australia's Best Up and Coming Drummer Competition' in Melbourne, led to worldwide sponsorships with major cymbal and drum companies, and also to clinics and workshops along the entire east coast of Australia. As well as performing, Grant also has a busy teaching studio in Brisbane and is currently Associate Lecturer in Jazz Percussion at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music. He has also been invited to perform as a solo artist by a number of Australia's leading Music Conservatories and Universities, recently accepting an invitation to perform and conduct workshops at the new International Music Academy located in Bangkok.
Grant is pushing the limits and boundaries as a solo performer and culminating with the success of his exciting debut CD, Primal Instinct. Not only is Grant one of Australia's best drummers, but he plays Australia's biggest drum kit. His kit as people see it today, has evolved into this massive state. As Grant's ideas and compositions have grown and developed, so has the kit.
Perhaps Grant is best summed up by internationally renowned drummer, Dom Famularo, who had this to say about Grant: "I travel the world performing and meeting many great drummers. It is not often I hear someone who is on the cutting edge of modern drum set performance. Well, in Australia I heard that person...Grant Collins! When you hear him, be prepared for the ride he will take you on... you will remember it for the rest of your life!"

The kit presently used by Grant is Australia's biggest drum kit setup. He currently endorses Pearl drums and Zildjian cymbals, and uses a Pearl Masters MMX kit when performing live. He has also designed his own signature sticks made by Vic Firth.
