In September 2006 Greg Garcia was appointed assistant secretary for cyber-security and telecommunications under the United States Department of Homeland Security. His experience includes congressional staff on the House Science Subcommittee on Research, head of 3Com Corp's Washington office, and vice president of Information Security for the Information Technology Association of America industry trade and lobbying group.
