From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Guvanga Tunnel or Gudvangatunnelen connects the village of Gudvangen (Aurland municipality, Sogn og Fjordane county) at the head of the Nærøyfjord with the Undredalen valley and is part of European route E16.
At 11,428 m in length, it is Norway's second longest road tunnel. It was opened on December 17, 1991.
500 m after the eastern end a new tunnel begins, the Flenja tunnel, 5,053 m long, and another one 1 km after that, the Fretheim tunnel, 1 363 m. 7 km further east the Lærdal tunnel starts, 24.5 km long (plus one 700 m tunnel before). This means that there is 43,0 km tunnel on a 51,5 km long section of E16.
