Halophytaceae is the botanical name for a family of flowering plants. Such a family has hardly ever been recognized by taxonomists.
The APG II system, of 2003, does recognize such a family and assigns it to the order Caryophyllales in the clade core eudicots. This represents a change from the APG system, of 1998, which did not recognize this family. It consists of one species only, Halophytum ameghinoi, of herbaceous plants in Patagonia.
