Hawthorne Math and Science Academy

Hawthorne Math and Science Academy, as of the 2006-2007 school year, is the tenth best high school in California in terms of state test scores. It is located at 4467 West Broadway in Hawthorne. The mission of HMSA is to provide high school students a rigorous, in-depth ,and exceptional standards-based education, with a special emphasis on mathematics and science.
The principal is David Morrow. The vice principal is Joaquin Hernandez.
To be able to graduate from HMSA you must complete:
- 3 years of History/Social Science
- 4 years of English
- 4 years of Math
- 3 years of a Foreign Language
- 1 year of Visual and Performing Arts
- 2 years of College Preparatory Elective
- 2 years of Physical Education
- 1 year of Technology/Computer Science
You must also have a total of 255 credits.
