Heartbeat International is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Tampa, Florida that provides pacemakers and implant surgery "free of charge" to needy patients around the world in more than 30 countries.
Heartbeat International's pacemaker program is the only one of its kind and was recognized with a Presidential Citation for "Outstanding Services to the Community and for Finding Innovative Solutions to Public Problems. Heartbeat International uses donated pacing devices no longer salable in the U.S. to save lives in underveloped countries lacking a medical social system for the poor. Their Mission of Making "Poor" Hearts Beat Better has been around since 1981 and has saved more than 8,000 lives to date
