The HUB (Help Us Bridge), is a registered independent organization (RIO) at the University of Hawaii, promoting a socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable Hawaii and beyond. Based on the triple-bottom-line (social, environmental, and economic), it is a steering committee formed by a diverse group of University of Hawaii students with a number of environmental goals[1]. Sustainable Saunders, its Registered Independent Organization (RIO) on the University of Hawaii Manoa Campus, will transform the Chancellor’s chosen pilot building, Saunders Hall, into a model for sustainability at the University of Hawaii and Manoa.
The team members include scientists, engineers, economists, UH faculty, entrepreneurs, and environmental activists. David Nixon, graduate professor of Public Policy whom teaches courses in sustainability, Susan Chandler (Interim Director of the Public Policy Center), and Dean Richard Dubenoski of the College of Social Sciences, are supporters of this venture.
