Talk:Helen Marshall
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Currently, Helen Marshall is facing opposition in her borough presidential reelection bid by former city marshal Philip T. Sica. Sica has pointed out his plans for supporting a Jets Staium in Queens, enforce the Borough's construction regulations, promote economic development in Queens, encourage the arts, and declare a war on graffiti. 205.209.95.213 21:10, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] As Borough President, Marshall has been known as an advocate for her borough.
Well, duh, that's what the borough president is supposed to do
[edit] Sica supporter's comments?
What is this stuff about Sirca's support coming from outside the Republican Party supposed to mean? That members of the Conservative Party of New York supported him? That's not surprising, since he was also their nominee as well. Is it supposed to denigrate Marshall? That seems strange, since she got such a large majority that her opposition seemed almost insignificant regardless of its composition. Also, isn't knowing which members of which party voted for whom in a general election somewhat suppositional, since while party membership is certainly a matter of record, whether members vote for the nominees of their own party or someone else in a general election can only be acurately determined by undermining the whole premise of a secret ballot? Anyway, what is the source of this presumed knowledge of the alleged broad support of Sirca? This cries out for either a reference - a verifiable, published source stating such, or deletion as POV. I'm not from Queens and hence a disinterested party only seeking to make Wikipedia better. Rlquall 17:12, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- You are totally right. Even though I would presume that since Republicans had a strong mayoral candidate they would continue to vote down their party line, one cannot know for sure who were the voters. I will ensure that that passage is deleted. On the other hand, it does create interesting comments and guesses due to the race's little coverage, thus no constituent polls sponsored by the papers prior to the election. This is definitely unfortunate. MEGOP 15:33, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
