Hernando Island
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hernando Island is a Canadian island in the Discovery Islands near Powell River, British Columbia. Along with the nearby Cortes Island, it is named after the Spanish explorer Hernando Cortes. A narrow gauge logging railway operated there in the 1920's.
The island is now mostly privately owned by a consortium of larger landowners. If you had $ 55,000 in the 1960s you too could have bought the entire island.
