Hi, I just joined, I'm interested in trying out being a member so I can learn how to proofread by doing it. I'm thinking I can teach myself how to edit by doing this, and maybe it will help my writing, or give me writing ideas. I will probably be here once a week or so.

I hadn't been here in a while, and I couldn't remember the exact password I was using here, so I stupidly thought, "No problem, just create another account." Then I thought, "I'll create a new account, then I'll just delete everything on the old one."

Nuh-uh. Gotta remember this is not like a blog site or something. Almost immediately after I did it, I got a message on the new account:

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits are considered vandalism. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Thank you.

So, I dug around in my papers and found where my password was, and just decided to fix the old one again. I could have seriously messed up my ability to play on Wikipedia.

The lesson we learn: Don't be dumb and forget your password. And don't just come on here and blithely think you're just gonna delete a whole bunch of stuff.

In short, don't be dumb like I was.
