I think that being immortal must be the worst thing that could happen to a person. Imagine living though the long years alone. Watching the world die around you. Feeling the heavy sorrow every time you lose someone and not being able to follow. Knowing that this world is the only one you will ever be able to see.
I believe that death is a blessing. A gift from God to all men, good or evil. It is comforting to know that there is a finality to everything. Even if you suffer every day for as long as you live there is the release of death waiting to sweep you away. The evils of the world will not endure. Death refreshes the cycle and renews time. It offers the new a break in the canopy and a shower of sunlight. Without death all would be stagnant.
If given a choice between eternal life and immediate death, I chose death. My only hope is that all whom I love do not morn for long. God has a place for me in heaven and I will gratefully accept it.
May your death be swift in coming and slow in asking.
