Hollinger Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hollinger Park is a municipal park in Timmins, Ontario, located at the southeast corner of Algonquin Blvd. and Park Rd.
Named for Benny Hollinger, a mining prospector whose 1909 discovery of gold launched the city's mining industry, the park, approximately one square kilometre in size, includes sporting facilities and is frequently used as an outdoor concert venue in the summer. Most famously, Timmins native Shania Twain performed at Hollinger Park on July 1, 1999 during her Come on Over Tour; an estimated 25,000 people were in attendance.
