[edit] Need Some Articles
I added engine specs and a brief history note to the page. I'd like to add suspension and chassis specs, but most of this likely only appears in old magazines. Can someone help me with that? I ditched all my old magazines in a couple of moves. I also changed a line in the intro to sound less opinionated, and to better help show the significance of the quad to the industry, although I'm sure a reference is preferred over my own experiences. [edit] Keep opinions off
Please keep your opinions of the TRX250R, either for or against (e.g. "But most who now anything about the sport will say...." etc.); this is a fact based resource, not an opinion piece. Please add verifiable facts. RustyATV 00:36, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Care to act like an adult?
And follow Wikipedia's rules of consensus, writing guidelines, and policies rather than just arbitrarily adding unsupported claims and making juvenile Ad hominem message board style attacks? I suggest reading Wikipedia's list of policies. Care to make an account and contribute properly? I'm willing to add upgrade information, and was intending to do that eventually once the solid specs and significant milestones were added. You are not, however, following proper formatting rules; you're just dropping content into a section intended for stock specifications with no references, no order, and no logical flow, not to mention the foolish attack. Additionally, adding one-off upgrades that require modifications such as totally rewelding and boring the cases to change bolt patterns is rather irrelevant, as such changes fall well outside what would be a factual history and significance of the 250R to the quad racing community. Upgrade info that would be relevant would be when and what aftermarket cylinders became available (i.e. Mugen, ProX, ProX/PC2000 powervalve, SaberRacing), how large they got (310, 350, 500, etc.), the first aftermarket frames, when and why the aftermarket frames started showing up, etc. This site is for telling a history, not starting a pissing match in which only you are interested in participating. I took out the relevant text from your last post and brought it here, for the discussion that Wikipedia suggests.
Also pilot cylinders will interchange with case modifications, as well as dirt bike motors with front motor mount modifications, there are performance manufactures out there that will aid in highly modifing the TRX250R to your liking, like FTZ, ESR, CTracing, etc
Here's how you might look at doing an upgrades section.
[edit] Other Upgrades
Motors from the (years?) Honda CR250R dirtbikes can be installed into the (years?) Honda TRX250R with only (changes/fabrication) of the front motor mounts (picture?). At the expense of ride comfort due to vibrations caused by a lack of a counterbalancer, the CR250R motors bring the benefit of more advanced porting and a 2-stroke power valve system on the (years?) models.
[edit] Custom Engines
(This really should be nothing more than a footnote, since it requires a lot of specialized skills and equipment, and will likely need pictures to support)
Aside from standard cylinder offerings from the aftermarket industry, shops and individuals are known to have experiemented with grafting those from other vehicles onto the TRX250R's engine cases with the goal of creating a performance package unable to be matched by competitors. No standard applied, but some combinations included cylinders from the Honda Pilot buggy, Polaris 400 Sport, and Rotax Snowmobile engines.
[edit] Traditional TRX250R Performance Shops
(I do believe that the article should stay away from simply listing shops who can make your 250R go faster and instead integrate significant names into the history at noteworthy milestones, but if you want to make a list, do it like this.)
- FTZ - (Company Website?)
- ESR - (Company Website?)
- CT Racing - (Company Website?)
- LRD - (Company Website?)
- Duncan Racing - (Company Website?)
See how I added depth and order to your statements? That's the whole point of the discussion page.
